Clay Chimenea
The original and
most traditional of chimeneas is of the clay variety. Even when including cast
iron chimeneas, steel chimeneas and aluminium chimeneas,
clay is still the most common. These free-standing structures
look natural and earthy in any garden.
Clay chimeneas can be easily moved from
one location to another, but you do need to handle and treat
them with care as they can easily crack and chip. They are also
relatively inexpensive in comparison to other chimeneas in the
product range.
Clay Chimenea Care
It is important to protect your clay chimenea
from rain damage. You can choose to use a rain proof chimenea
cover or apply a water proof coat. Moving your clay chimenea
about isn’t very difficult but extreme care should be
taken. They can consist of two parts the long neck and the body.
Lifing the chimenea by the neck risks it coming apart –
remember to carry your clay chimenea from the bottom part when
moving it.
Before you use your clay chimenea…
You are advised to cure your clay chimenea before you start using it. Build a small fire and let it fully burn out on its own. When it has fully cooled down, repeat this over again, until the clay becomes hard. By curing your chimenea, it helps to prevent it from cracking and you can then build larger fires for longer sessions. However, we advise small to moderate sized fires to extend the life of your clay chimenea..
